What are micro bead hair extensions?

Our microbead hair extensions are crafted using 100% human Remy hair. The tip of the extension strand is clamped onto your natural hair with a discreet small cylindrical bead. Once clamped, each strand lays flat to your head. There aren’t any glues, adhesives or heat used to apply micro bead hair extensions, so the process is fairly quick and not at all damaging to your natural hair (when applied by a professional!)

How are micro bead hair extensions applied?

One of our hair extension specialists will take a small section of your natural hair and thread a bead onto this section, the hair extension tip is then also inserted into the bead. Pliers are used to clamp the bead to create a secure attachment. It’s really important to mention, please make sure this process is done by a professional to ensure no damage is caused to the hair or scalp, we know the application sounds simple enough, but it requires professional training to be sure that the correct tensions is used.

As your natural hair grows, the bead and extensions will move down with your hair, so maintenance is required every 4-6 weeks, depending on how quickly your hair grows.

How many micro bead hair extensions will I need?

This is a great question, however the answer differs from person to person, depending on what result you would like to achieve. If you are looking to just add volume and thickness to your current hair length, we would recommend 50-100 extensions. If you are looking for a total transformation from shorter hair to luscious long hair, we could suggest up to 150 extensions, of course these are general examples, to find out how many extensions you need, get in touch and book in for a free consultation.

What is the process if I would like to get micro bead hair extensions?

We always start with a consultation. This is a free of charge appointment and will take around 15 minutes. It is extremely important for us to see and assess your hair before your hair extension application. During the consultation we will determine the quantity, colour and length of the extensions that you require. We will also enquire about your current haircare routine and products to ensure that the products are hair extension friendly. We will apply a few hair extensions so you can physically see and feel how they feel in your hair and of course, we will take you through the full aftercare and maintenance required. Following your consult, if you choose to proceed, a deposit will be taken, and you will be able to book your application appointment.

How long does your hair have to be for microbead hair extensions?

Hair extensions can certainly be applied to shorter hair, during your consultation we will make this assessment and discuss the most suitable options for your natural hair length. The goal is to make sure that your hair extensions look as natural as possible!

Can I style my hair with microbead extensions in?

Yes! You can style your microbead hair extensions however you like. Of course, we recommend treating them like you would treat your natural hair, so you will need to make sure you use heat protection products. Just like your natural hair, too much heat styling can be damaging to your extensions. Be kind to them! Show them some love and use a quality hair treatment on them once a month and use the appropriate heat protection and styling products. If you need a heat protection product, shop our range here.

Are microbead hair extensions high maintenance?

Sure, they do require some salon maintenance, you will need to visit us at the salon every 4-6 weeks for adjustments. Other than that, we just ask them you treat them kindly! Use quality salon products and make sure you brush your hair daily. Start at the ends of your hair, and brush thoroughly moving up the length of the hair as you brush, all the way up to the scalp and between the beads. How long do micro bead hair extensions last?

Generally speaking, you will get around 12 months of wear out of one set of hair extensions. With proper care, and showing them some regular love, you can certainly get longer out of them. If you heat style your hair extensions more than once a week, or you are not using quality products in your haircare routine, you may get a lot less than 12 months out of your set. You can always opt to have a second set in rotation, which we would alternate for you at every second adjustment appointment.

What do I do with my hair extensions when I sleep?

We know how tempting that messy high bun is when you are tired! Trust me, we get it! This can put stress on your natural hair though, especially if you wear your hair up a lot throughout the day. Our recommendation is, after thoroughly brushing your hair, pop it in a loose plait, this keeps the hair out of your face when your sleeping while keeping your extensions in the same direction as your natural hair growth.

How long will the application take?

Depending on how many extensions you are having applied, the application can take anywhere from 1 to 2 and a half hours. During your application appointment, your stylist will apply all of your microbead hair extensions, professionally cut, and blend your extensions, and style them. Want to know the best part... there is no application fee, your extensions just need to be paid in full on the day of your application appointment.
